Orihuela Costa
Orihuela-Costa is a coastal area on the Costa Blanca and part of the 20 km distant town of Orihuela. The municipality has about 22,000 registered inhabitants, but the government estimates that on average about 45,000 people reside in the municipality. The municipality mainly focuses on beach and golf tourism.
The coastline of Orihuela-Costa extends over a length of 16 km and borders the city of Torrevieja to the north and the autonomous region of Murcia to the south. Orihuela-Costa consists of 57 urbanisations and has 4 golf courses and 2 marinas. Orihuela-Costa is internationally known for its beautiful white sandy beaches and clear water, creeks (calas), which are interspersed with high steep cliffs (acantilados). Several beaches in Orihuela-Costa have been awarded the Blue Flag.
Beaches
Orihuela Costa has a 16 km coastline with 11 natural beaches and coves: From north to south: Playa de Punta Prima, Cala Mosca, Playa Flamenca, Playa de Cala Cerrada, Playa de La Zenia, Cala Bosque, Playa Capitán, Playa La Caleta (Cabo Roig), Playa de La Glea (Campoamor), Playa de Aguamarina and Playa de Mil Palmeras.
HARBOURS
Orihuela Costa has 2 marinas, the Puerto Deportive de Cabo Roig, and the Puerto Deportivo Miguel Caballero in Campoamor. Around these marinas you can also practice various water sports.
GOLF COURSES
Between the urbanizations of Orihuela-Costa there are four 18-hole golf courses with an international appearance. Important European golf tournaments regularly take place on these golf courses. These four golf courses are Campo de Golf Villamartín, Campo de Golf Las Ramblas, Real Club de Golf Campoamor and Las Colinas Golf.
Nightlife
Since Orihuela Costa is mainly focused on beach tourism, there are also numerous entertainment areas with bars and restaurants. The most famous entertainment areas for tourists are “The Strip” in Cabo Roig and Villamartin Plaza.
Shopping
Orihuela Costa has no shopping streets but does have one of the largest and best known shopping centers in Spain, La Zenia Boulevard.
La Zenia Boulevard is a large outdoor shopping center with 150 shops, bars, restaurants and leisure options. All major brands are represented there, and events are planned daily in the main square. The shopping center is easily accessible by bus or by car and offers sufficient parking space for the numerous visitors.
Places of interest Orihuela
Orihuela Costa is a young municipality, and therefore does not offer historical buildings or sights, but you can visit the mother town of Orihuela 20 km away. There you can visit the Monte de San Miguel where the ruins of El Castillo de Orihuela are located, the Palmeral de Orihuela, the medieval monastery and the old town.
